Phoenix
mom Amy Maschue was at the park with her kids. She was nursing her baby
and chasing after her other young children when another mother noticed
something: Even though Maschue’s baby was at her breast, her stomach
and back were covered.
“She asked where I had gotten my nursing shirt,” says Maschue, who responded, “I designed it and my mother sewed it for me.”
“You should sell that!” the other mother said.
By November of last year, Maschue had obtained a patent, found a printer and packaging company, taken four trips to Los Angeles to find a sewing contractor and was producing and selling Modest Middles. All while raising four children under the age of 6!
Modest Middles are undershirts with a deep, U-shaped cutout for easy access to any nursing bra. The soft-fabric, washable shirts come in four sizes. $29.99 at Raph Infant & Child at 4747 E. Thomas Rd. in Phoenix or modestmiddles.com.
